Won't be able to Present today

I won't be able to present the presentation today because to be honest, it's incomplete. It's not finished. The reason as to why it is incomplete is because I have been having a ton of technological problems both at home and Uni and it has been really annoying.

I have uploaded most of what I have done along with the 3D Animatic but the 2D Animatic will take longer. I want to upload and finish this before the end of the day or the end of the weekend. It will get done, I'm just going to have to miss the presenting part. I hope this is understandable.

Script to Screen; Pre Viz; 3D Animatic

The 3D Animatic of the storyboard. This has literally crashed my computer to the point where I can't use the Video editing Programs anymore, so I'm going to try and sort it out and if I can't then I won't be able to have a 2D Animatic sequence for tomorrow.

I apologize in advanced for any areas that look out of place or shotty camera work.

Script to Screen: Character Redos

Wanted to try out a different style of drawing characters to get away from the style I'm comfortable with and it was kind of fun to try out.

The general design is the same, but I tried making a style that you would usually see on a kids show.

Taking from the feedback that Phil gave me, I decided to redo the overall design of the characters. The Scientist is fine so I kept parts of him, but the Hero looked kinda plain and could be better so she was completely redone.

I decided to make her look a bit Rebel like but I feel like I didn't achieve that so I'm going to try at her again and see what comes up. This is what she is at the moment.

There is more stuff I would like to add and take away, meaning that i'm going to have to start again with her.

Thought I would also show the process of how this piece came to be if anyone was wondering.

Step 1. Blocking out the shapes. Step 2. Outlining the Figure. Step 3. Rough Sketch. Step 4. Line Art. Step 5. Color and finalizing.

The Scientist I didn't have to make that many changes to. With Phil stating that he could be more like Doctor Octopus or have some sort of cybernetic enhancements to show the Roller Skates and how they work , I thought that was a far more better idea then what he was before.
So from that advice this is what came out.

Had a lot of fun with this and it really shows how the robotic legs can be seen as Skates and I went ahead and made him have a Robotic Arm as well, to kinda show as if he was in a accident in one of his experiments.

Story Board Redo is coming along kinda slowly but ill be done eventually.

Script to Screen; OGR Part 2

Story Board Frame 1 - 80.
Red Arrows - Camera Movement
Green Arrows - Character Movement
Blue Arrows - Prop Movement
Camera fades from black to see hero and pans around then zooms to her face where she salutes

she walks back through the door, camera swipe to table where scientist zooms pass shaking the desk and causing things to move.

cup falls from his fast speed but he luckily catches it and takes a sip

he hears alarms going off and investigates the monitors to see hero approaching

he pushes a button. the camera pans into the screen where it becomes the actual scene where the hero has reached the base of the path to the tower

camera zooms backwards from hero towards the tower and starts moving, rolling towards her

camera starts getting faster as it approaches the hero, rolling as it goes.

camera cuts to hero jumping out of the way and the scientist laughing at her on screen and pushes another button

the terrain starts moving and shifting as deadly traps emerge blocking the path. the hero overcomes these obstacles (camera will follow as she goes through each one without cuts or transitions and rotates while it follows)

she enters the tower. the scientist becoming more worried starts zooming around the room on his skates and stops at a console.

he slams on a button where the camera cuts to the hero walking up a flight of stairs doing so, the steps start to get removed and are approaching quickly. hero notices this and is bewildered

she snaps out of it and runs up the stairs camera following as she goes. she makes it, takes a breather and approaches the door. grabbing the handle.

Camera cuts to scientist, panning towards him while his leaning on the table smirking while looking at the door. cuts to looking at the door and pans towards the door as weapons are shifting slightly. camera cuts back to hero and then cuts to a comic like scene with both of them with the door and wall in the way. she opens door and barges in.

door closes behind her and camera fades to black.

Script to Screen; Camera Script

A script detailing the actions the camera will likely be taking in the scenes.

The scenes with the hero climbing the and going trough the obstacles will be slightly longer to show the scale of the mountain and show the hardness of the challenge. and also the stairs scene.

From Script to Screen; Story Idea.

I have been given a pretty interesting range of cards here, that seem pretty hard to make something of it. Mountaineer, Laboratory, Roller Skates. I've been given a few suggestions on potential story lines from a few people, although there all good ideas, once I was given my pieces I already had an idea in mind immediately which I written down a couple minutes afterwards. I have been slowly developing on trying to make it in to a standard story.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Characters:
The main Idea I have Involves 3 characters; A Mountaineer (Female), A Scientist (Male), and A young Child (gender still needs to be decided).

The Mountaineer (Protagonist) - Early to mid Twenties, Slightly Darker in Skin color, Wearing the occasional climbing gear for any mountaineer (but will be slightly modified in some way).

The Scientist (Antagonist) - Roughly around his 50's, slightly pale in skin color, A combination of professor Hojo from Final Fantasy 7 (1), and Professor Von Kriplespac from Conkers Bad Fur Day (2).

The Child (Person in Peril) - Caucasian Skin Color, 6-10 Age wise, Classic children attire I.E. Skirt/Shorts.

Location:
On the outskirts of a village/Town next to a Forrest that goes on towards nearby Mountains. Around a Field or Rolling Hills.

The Tower (Exterior) - A combination of old and new in looks and design, some parts are rundown while other parts looked fixed up with newer materials. It's a very tall Hour Glass shaped tower that goes on beyond the clouds, but you can still make out scientific equipment at the top, like a huge telescope and antennas and other strange looking tools and machines coming out of the sides and going down along the tower. From a distance its shows in the form of a silhouette due to it's dark brick work and up close it's still the same but more lighter during the day. Windows spiral up from the bottom to the top and a misshapen door at the bottom for entry.

The Tower (Interior) - Dark Brick Work with greenish and purplish lighting. Formed of several floors each containing pieces of both a scientific nature and props that you would find in a home. Household items are mostly at the bottom while it gets more scientific as you go up.

Story Synopsis:
a Child is happily playing in the fields with the Roller Skates being loud and happy a few yards from the tower. As the child gets gradually gets closer to the tower the noise starts to get more irritating and unbearable for the Scientist to handle and after one or two bickering with the child, the scientist uses a device to grab the skates and bring them to him leaving the child upset and crying away from him.

The Mountaineer, coming back from exploring the nearby mountains encounters the child who explains through teary eyes what has happened and about her skates and the scientist. The mountaineer promises to get the skates back for her and head towards the tower where she pleads to the scientist to give them back where he refuses to do so. Taking it upon herself she uses her climbing skills and equipment to climb the outside of the tower to an open window, but with the way the scientist has made the tower, he was able to remove the stairs that go up to him.

Through Trial and Error in the difficult tower structure she manages to climb to the top where she confronts and makes the scientist give back the Roller Skates and she makes her escape with the skates on as the scientist tries to stop her. Once she makes it outside she finds the child and hands the Roller Skates back to the child and she leads the child back to town, with a grumpy scientist shouting from the top of his tower.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course I have no idea if this is going to be two minutes or just over, and I know that it will be only designed to be a story run through where there's no running animation or anything like that, but it could be made into something afterwards, who knows where this project will lead to.

If anyone is having trouble trying to come up with ideas for this project I would recommend looking at these people on YouTube who showcase a wide arrange of Animated Shorts and Short Films. So you can go here and find inspiration.
